The Forum on Breeding Pollution Prevention along the Xiangjiang River was held on September 2. Hunan Province will reportedly finish designation of areas for banned breeding, limited breeding, and breeding in a certain scale in all of Hunan's counties, cities and districts along the Xiangjiang River by October 31.
According to the Implementation Plan on Breeding Pollution Prevention along Banks of Main Streams of the Xiangjiang River issued by the Hunan Provincial People's Government, the banned area for breeding livestock and poultry includes land within 1,000 meters of banks along main streams of the Xiangjiang River in Changsha Comprehensive Hub of the Xiangjiang River, the protected land area for source of urban centralized drinking water supply, and the land within 500 meters of banks of the main stream of Xiangjiang River that is outside Changsha Comprehensive Hub of the Xiangjiang River. By the end of 2015, the live pig farms (households) with an annual output of 50 to 300 within the banned area will be removed in whole.
