An exhibit showcasing contemporary Chinese artworks opened to the public in European Union headquarters in Brussels on Tuesday and will run until Dec 19.
The international tour exhibition, Art and Peace, features a variety of contemporary Chinese art forms, including paintings, oils, woodcuts, watercolors and sculptures, interpreting perceptions of "art and peace" in the eyes of Chinese artists.
The two-week event is organized by the China Cultural Center in Belgium and the Chinese Artists Association. It marks the first time the Chinese Artists Association has brought the tour show to Europe.
Rudi Vervoort, minister-president of the government of the Brussels capital region, attended the opening.
"Cultural exchanges under the theme of peace will help this diversified world to regain its glory of the past," Vervoort said.
Qu Xing, Chinese ambassador to Belgium, and representatives and artists from China and Belgium also attended the ceremony.
"2016 marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of China-Belgium diplomatic ties. I feel delighted to see the important role of Chinese and Belgian cultural and art institutions in enhancing cultural exchanges between the two counties and wish for closer friendship and more fruitful exchanges," the ambassador said.
