In Zhengzhou, Henan province, 19 manhole covers on a sidewalk have been painted like ancient coins. Based on the shape of the covers, the design ranges from Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) to Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), and one carries the auspicious words "Zhao Cai Jin Bao (to bring in wealth and treasure)". The artistic design has added color to the street and generated comments from the residents, with one saying, "I feel like wanting to pick up the ancient money from the ground." |
