Oil painter Luo Erchun, 85, has donated 39 paintings to the National Art Museum of China. The works are part of a retrospective celebrating his six-decade career.
The display of more than 200 works reveals the artist's passion for playing with vibrant colors and his sentiment toward people living on the land. His approach shows the influence of impressionism, cubism and Italian painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani.
Deserving special attention is a section where Luo's shuimo(ink-and-water) paintings are displayed. He nourished his ink-and-water skills in childhood under the guidance of his father, who excelled in calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting and poetry.
The exhibition closes on Tuesday.
