6th Beijing Int'l art biennale scheduled for autumn 2015

The press conference for the 6th Beijing International Art Biennale was held on January 20, 2014 in Beijing.

The 6th Beijing International Art Biennale is scheduled for autumn 2015, focusing on "Memory and Dreams", and artists from over 80 countries will attend the major art event.

The Beijing Biennale office made the announcement at a recent press conference, and said they are ready to receive art from all over the world.

"The Beijing Biennale is 'a bridge between the East and West, and a bond connecting tradition and modernity," Liu Dawei, chairman of the China Artists Association said.

According to Liu, the Beijing Biennale uses contemporary paintings and sculptures as main forms of the exhibition, and new media art like installations, images and comprehensive materials are also used.

The biennale, co-hosted by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Government of Beijing Municipality and the China Artists Association, has been held five times. Within the past 10 years, the number of participant countries has increased to 85, and the number of the participating artists has risen to over 3,000.
