The Inner Mongolia autonomous region will host an
art auction at the Sheraton Hotel in its capital Hohhot on Saturday after a two-day preview exhibition.
The event, organized by Beijing-based auction company Sino Investment of Arts, will include 700 pieces of traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, furniture, jade, and other antiques collected throughout Chinese history.
The auction is a rare combination of masterpieces created by the nation’s most prestigious painters in modern times, including Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, and Zhang Daqian.
The exhibition also lists 37 items of Chinese works from overseas, including two pieces of calligraphy written by Sun Yat-sen.
