Born and raised in Chengdu, in Sichuan province, Li rose to fame after winning the national singing competition TV show, Super Girl, in 2005.
A graduate of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Li is popular for her tomboy image.
In recent years, she has also starred in big-budget movies, such as Hong Kong director Tsui Hark's The Flying Swords of Dragon Gates, which also features Jet Li and Zhou Xun.
