In 1985, the ballet version of Spanish literary master Miguel De Cervante's novelDon Quixote de la Manchahit the stage for the first time in China. For the past 30 years, it has been recognized as a milestone in the repertoire of the troupe.
The story of Don Quixote is no stranger to people worldwide. Don Quixote, a middle aged country gentlemen who's hopelessly absorbed with novels of chivalry, embarks on an adventure to go after the woman of his dreams. During his trip, he comes across barber Basilio, who falls in love with an innkeeper's daughter Kitri. With the help from Don Quixote and his squire Sancho, the pair of love birds are finally together and blessed by Kitri's parents.
The balletDon Quixoteis regarded by many as a stimulating work that provides enough room for dancers to show off their consummate skills. It has been interpreted by troupes around the world. This time, it is selected as the final performance of the season.
