Confucius (551-479 BC), an educator and philosopher, founded the school of thought Confucianism which would have significant influences on later generations. He was the first Chinese to set up private schools and enroll students from all walks of life.
He is believed to be born on Sept 28.
The ceremony dedicated to Confucius is held annually at Confucius temples throughout the world paying homage to Confucius.
