French take on city
French artist Michel Jouenne created a series of landscape paintings during his stay in Shanghai. These pieces are showcased in an exhibition When Shanghai Meets Paris. The 82-year-old has started his artistic career in 1955. For him, painting a country, a region or a city is "no more complicated than setting up a new love affair".

Inside world
The Reading Room is a very intimate exhibition put together by Zhang Enli, an established painting artist in Shanghai. In order to present the inside world of artists, Zhang has asked 24 fellow artists to bring something from their respective reading rooms, and reconstruct their working scene.

Best of the year
Selected Works features some of the artists who have shown at James Cohan gallery during the past yea. Among the highlights are two rarely exhibited hand-painted ceramic vases by Francesco Clemente; world-renowned Mark di Suvero's sculpture Pizzicare along with some of his ink-and-brush drawings, and Hiraki Sawa's intimate video sculpture titled Record that is viewed from the inside of a small early 20th-century wooden game box.

Getting up close
Vladimir Nikolic is an artist from Belgrade, Serbia. There Is No Landscape is his second exhibition in China and first in Shanghai. Four video installations are on show. The artist likes to create a laid-back and light state in simple images. Now everyone takes pictures and shares videos on the Web, people often ignore the object itself. He wants to feel and touch the objects with the camera lens.
