Chinese international literature prize winners

Mo Yan, the nom de plume of Guan Moye from Shandong province, won the 2012 Nobel Prize in Literature for his work as a writer "who with hallucinatory realism merges folk tales, history and the contemporary".

He is best known to Western readers for his 1987 novel Red Sorghum (《红高粱》) which was adapted for the film of the same name. Other renowned works include Big Breasts and Wide Hips (《丰乳肥臀》) and Life and Death are Wearing Me Out(《生死疲劳》).
