According to Shen, Cheung has composed and written 16 English songs and has been preparing for her debut performance at the Strawberry Music Festival for months.

"She likes music with a little bit darkness and electronic elements, which match well with her voice. She is full of imagination about her music, and she is all about rejuvenation these days," Shen says.

"Of course, signing one of China's biggest movie stars really surprised us. But as we've been working together, we've become more like friends. She is very sincere and easygoing."

Cheung also said in the statement that she has had a passion for music since she was born.

"I've been an actress for many years, but I never stop listening to music. I love to find different types of music and I hope I can share my feelings with fans through my music."

In the movie Clean (debuted in 2004 in France), as part of her portrayal of a recovering drug addict and aspiring singer, Cheung performed songs written by David Roback of Mazzy Star and Dean Wareham of Dean & Britta.
