High-speed trains should be on fast lane
The speed of high-speed rail was discussed by Zhao Guangfa, executive chairman of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, at a CPPCC workshop on Friday.
He suggested that high-speed rail should be driven at 350 km per hour as designed rather than 300 km/h or 200 km/h, the current speeds of the trains.
He said the infrastructure has been designed and constructed on the standard speed of 350 km/h, which has passed safety test. If the trains do not operate on the designed speed, the infrastructure and the railways themselves will be a huge waste.
