URUMQI -- Xinjiang's Kashgar has launched an online platform for the public to report terrorist activity.
People can also pass the information to public security authorities through instant message apps like WeChat and QQ, Kashgar authorities said on Tuesday.
They promised to give informants up to 100,000 yuan ($16,000). There will also be rewards for tip-offs about online content relating to terrorism.
A senior local police officer said the move is aimed at mobilizing the public as a key force in the fight against terrorism.
