The pumpkin vines gave birth to two striped pumpkins at farmer Hu Yiming's vegetable garden in Central China's Hubei province, chinanews.com reported Wednesday. Local residents call them "the most beautiful pumpkins" and fall over each other to admire the view.

The two pumpkins are both under average size, the bigger one of 10cm in diameter and the smaller one of only 7cm. The main body is dark green, each with 10 golden stripes on them. The surface feels smooth and under the sunshine it glistens with light.

The pumpkins grow in common soil together with corns. Hu tells that apart from common fertilizers he does not give any other fertilizer to the soil. Even the aged farmers with decades of planting experiences in the Daxi village of Rongmei town in Hefeng county have no idea how the striped pumpkin form.

According to the charged person in the seed station of the county, the striped pumpkin appears to be a variety of no-vine pumpkin. However, since a little different from authentic no-vine pumpkin, the charged person cannot make sure how the striped pumpkins grow.

Hu Yiming plans to dry the striped pumpkins and make them decoration items.
