More than half of China's medical workers have symptoms of reduced bone mass with 6.4 percent diagnosed with osteoporosis, according to a survey launched by several Chinese medical organizations.
The survey, conducted by the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and a medical website, covered 130 hospitals in 19 provinces and municipalities.
Lin Hua, a doctor with the bone department of Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, said 83 percent of Chinese doctors feel excessive pressure during their work hours and more than 90 percent do not get enough sleep.
He also said nearly 80 percent of doctors in China do not get enough exposure to sunshine, and many eat irregularly due to their busy jobs.
