Officials in Shangqiu, Henan province, are required to report to the disciplinary watchdog three days before wedding or funeral affairs of their family members, according to a new regulation.
The regulation, unveiled recently by the city's disciplinary watchdog, bans officials from receiving gifts, including money, from officials at lower levels or other government departments and public funds that have been sent as gifts at wedding and funeral ceremonies.
It also bans officials from arranging luxury vehicle fleets, banquets and ceremonies at such affairs. The number of vehicles used should not exceed 10, according to the regulation.
Officials are also barred from using public funds to give gifts and from using public vehicles to attend such occasions.
