China committed to cooperative mechanisms in Asia

India 'priority' for diplomacy

BEIJING - China will continue its efforts to set up cooperative mechanisms in Asia, a foreign ministry spokesman said on Wednesday.

"China has long been committed to common development and security as well as the establishment of a community of shared destiny with neighboring countries in Asia," Spokesman Hong Lei said at a daily news briefing.

Hong said China always pursues friendship and partnership with its neighbors, seeks to bring amity, security and common prosperity to its neighborhood, practices the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, and strives to make its development benefit countries in Asia.

"Currently, mechanisms on political, economic and security cooperation are growing vigorously in Asia, which is in line with the trend in the region," Hong said.

He said China will continue to "make unswerving efforts" to push ahead with the process.

"Meanwhile, we believe that openness and inclusiveness are a fundamental precondition for the healthy development of regional cooperation in Asia and the Pacific," Hong said, adding that China stands ready to work together with all sides in pursuit of prosperity, stability and peace in the region.
