28 detained after drug bust in Guang'an

Police detained 21 suspected drug traffickers and seven drug addicts after a recent crackdown during their largest drug case since the city of Guang'an of Sichuan province was established, Huaxi Metropolis Daily reported.

Police also seized 14 kilograms of the drug known as ice and 17.24 grams of heroin when they busted a major gang in a special operation at the end of April.

The gang was active in Sichuan and Guangdong provinces and smuggled drugs from Guangdong and sold them in Sichuan and Shanxi provinces and Chongqing municipality, police said.

Four vehicles that were used to transport drugs were also seized and bank accounts with more than 700,000 yuan ($112,810) of suspected drug money were frozen.

The crackdown dealt a heavy blow to local drug-related crimes, police said.
