As urbanization gathers pace, many migrant-dominated areas in major cities are also facing massive change. Some schools for children of migrant workers involved in the construction of urban renewal projects face closure. In Zhengzhou, Henan province, the government plans to shut down three schools in Two Seven district as part of its urban housing demolition program. A teacher at Dequan primary school in Two Seven district said that majority of students will have to live away from their parents and move into schools in their hometown.
