Former senior insurance official expelled from Party

BEIJING - Dai Chunning, a former senior official of a Chinese state-owned insurance corporation, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) for suspected violations, the Party's discipline watchdog said on Thursday.

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the CPC announced the decision in a statement. Dai used to be a deputy general manager with China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation,

The CCDI said after investigations Dai was found to be suspected of embezzling a large amount of public funds with other individuals, seeking gains for companies or individuals by taking advantage of his position, accepting bribes by himself or with others, and committing adultery.

Dai's actions have constituted serious violations, the CCDI said in the statement, adding that it has decided to expel him from the Party in accordance with Party discipline regulations and the approval by the CPC Central Committee.

The CCDI has transferred the case to judicial organs.
