BEIJING - A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman on Wednesday reaffirmed the country's unswerving efforts to seek bigger growth of its cooperation with Russia in all fields.
At a daily press briefing, Hong Lei said, "We will unswervingly and firmly promote China-Russia cooperation in all fields to produce bigger achievements."
Hong's comments came after talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Shanghai on Tuesday, which produced a joint statement.
Under the statement, the countries will beef up cooperation in a wide range of fields, including finance, trade, energy and transportation infrastructure.
Putin's state visit to China also includes the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia summit from Tuesday to Wednesday.
The stronger all-round strategic partnership will play a part in promoting international fairness and justice, safeguarding world peace and development and accomplishing the common prosperity of the two countries, Hong said.
"It is the shared responsibility for the two countries to safeguard, develop and consolidate China-Russia relations," Hong said.
