Guiyang signs deal to accelerate exports

Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, has signed a cooperation framework agreement with Beihai of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to build the Beihai-Guiyang Port to accelerate Guizhou's exports.

The move will promote cooperation between the Guiyang Comprehensive Bonded Zone and Beihai Export Processing Zone. Guizhou also plans to build a coastal logistics industrial park in Beihai.

Relying on the Beihai port, Guizhou will utilize its public berth to gather port services and facilities. According to the preferential policy, Beihai will provide support to Guizhou’s companies that use the port to undertake import and export trade. Both sides will also promote collaboration in rail-sea transportation and custom clearance, and simplify the procedure to improve port turnover efficiency.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations is the biggest market for Guizhou's foreign trade enterprises, accounting for 60 percent of its foreign trade.

Due to the geographic constraints, Guiyang's import and export goods are usually transported by road and railway, leading to the higher logistics cost. Thus, it is important for Guizhou to build more convenient access to the Beibu Gulf.

The construction of the Beihai-Guiyang Port strengthens cooperation between Guiyang and cities in the Pearl-River Delta, bringing win-win developing opportunities to both Guiyang and Beihai.

Guiyang will promote mutual research through the public deep-water berth of Tieshan Port in Beihai. As Guizhou plans to build a coastal logistics industrial park in Beihai, its development focuses on port logistics, processing trade, equipment manufacturing and export-oriented industries.
