China's industry and commerce authority will ban the use of the slogan that says "Chinese famous brand" in product advertisements starting from May, Beijing News reported on Monday.
Starting from May 1, the slogan "Chinese famous brand" should not appear on the packaging of products or in commercials, the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce has announced, citing the newly revised trademark law.
Producers or business owners who still print that slogan on their products or use it in advertising could face a fine of 100,000 yuan ($16,060), the report said.
The ban will not apply to products that enter the retail and wholesale markets before May 1, when the new law is enacted.
