Porn literature websites closed down

Three websites, known for their erotic content, have been closed down for publishing pornographic and obscene novels, the Beijing News reported on Friday.

China has launched a nationwide campaign against online pornographic and vulgar information between this month and November.

Eight cases involving pornographic literature have been reported, said Zhou Huilin,deputy director of the National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications.

The Beijing Internet Association will take measurement to crack down on pornographic information online. All texts, pictures, videos and advertisements with pornographic content will be deleted.

According to the office, the campaign "Cleaning the Web 2014" will involve thorough checks on websites, search engines and mobile application stores, Internet TV USB sticks and set-top boxes.
