KUNMING - A forest fire that broke out five days ago in southwest China's Yunnan Province was put out by more than 5,000 firefighters and soldiers on Wednesday, local authorities said.

The fire ripped through an area of 3000 mu (200 hectares), according to the forest fire prevention headquarters in Baoshan City.

The blaze was first spotted at Ninan Mountain in Longyang District in Baoshan City at noon on Saturday. It was triggered by local villagers when they burned paper money before the graves of their ancestors in the woods.
