Cold front to sweep North China

(Xinhua) Updated: 2014-04-09 21:10

BEIJING - A cold front will sweep North China in the coming two days, bringing gales and temperature drops, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said on Wednesday.

Some parts will experience gusts of level 4 to level 6 on the Beaufort Scale, with temperatures expected to drop by up to six degrees Celsius, the center forecast.

It warned that the west of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, as well as some areas in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Gansu Province will see sand storms.

From Thursday to Friday, parts of Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi and Anhui provinces will be hit by torrential rain.

The weather observatory also cautioned that parts of Yunnan and Sichuan provinces will be susceptible to forest fires due to high temperatures and lack of rain in the coming days.
