A woman in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province, paid an old woman 200 yuan ($32) compensation because she scared the woman by driving wearing a facial mask, Yangtze Evening News reported on Friday.
The driver, surnamed Chang, a resident of the city, received a phone call from a friend who asked Chang to visit her at about 8 pm on March 26 after she had just applied a facial mask. Chang did not want to waste the mask so she drove to see her friend while still wearing it. At a crossroad, Chang stopped her car for a traffic light and her mask-covered face scared an old woman who was passing and fell down next to Chang's car.
The old woman's husband, who was accompanying his wife, stopped Chang's car and reported the incident to police. After mediation by the police, Chang paid the old woman 200 yuan as compensation for the scare.
