A public procurement platform under the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing has been set up to make public purchases more transparent, the federation said in an e-mail statement on March 27.
The platform, www.china-cpp.com, will offer small and medium-size companies more opportunities in government procurement, the statement said.
In developed countries, public procurement usually accounted for 15 percent of GDP and 50 percent of government spending. In 2012, China's public procurement was about 5 trillion yuan ($805 billion), industry statistics showed.
