A migrant worker died in a traffic accident in Chongqing after traveling thousands of miles to look for her daughter who left the family to accompany an unidentified man.
Gong Jinrong, who worked in Shunde, Guangdong province, traveled to Luzhou , Sichuan province, on Monday after learning her 17-year-old daughter was staying there with a man.
Her daughter left home a week ago "just for fun", without telling Gong and her husband, Chengdu Business News reported.
Gong was one of at least 15 people killed on Tuesday morning when a bus rolled over and was struck from behind by a truck on a highway in Chongqing.
Gong's daughter, who was informed by her father and met with family members in Chongqing on Wednesday morning, said she was deeply sorry and regretted her mother's death.
The accident has triggered a public discussion on the education of migrant workers' children, who are often left behind without the supervision of their parents.
