Inner Mongolia University has teamed up with one of China's major mutton producers, Mongolian Sheep Co, and Australian sheep breeding technology provider Australia Agri-Business Technology to promote mutton quality in China.
An agreement was signed on Sunday in Hohhot, capital of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, to launch the three-way effort.
The project will involve experts from the top educational institution in Inner Mongolia and technical support from the Australians to establish a gene bank from which to select, ameliorate and develop sheep breeds.
The three parties vowed to produce high-quality mutton from the country's best pasture areas in Inner Mongolia, and to set a good example for further international cooperation in animal husbandry.
