A truck driver in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province was stopped by police after he allegedly took a fuel card that belonged to a fueling station on a highway linking Zhejiang to Shanghai, Metro Express reported on Monday.

The driver, surnamed Gao, drove his truck to Shanghai from Hangzhou and filled it in a fuel station at night on March 8 at a highway service area.

Gao found a fuel card already in the fuel machine when he went to insert his card. He took out the card and filled his truck using his own card, and then drove away with the card that belonged to the fuel station.

Half an hour later, Gao was stopped by police when he arrived at a toll station, and officers found him to be in possession of the card, authorities said.

The card that Gao is accused of taking was not an ordinary one. It could only be used by fuel station staff to assist customers and could not be used at other fuel stations.

The case was under investigation.
