A former official for the Sichuan branch of China National Petroleum Corp, China's largest oil and gas producer and supplier, is under investigation by police, 21st Century Business Herald reported.

Li Dongsheng, born in 1956, is the former general manager and deputy Party chief of the Sichuan branch. Insiders told the newspaper Li is being investigated for involvement in a bidding scandal in Pengzhou city.

Li was also involved in a sex-related scandal in which officials from CNPC were offered sex services in Japan in May 2012. CNPC stopped investigating the case as the relationships behind it were too complicated, the report said.
