More than 100 official spokespeople in Beijing opened micro blog accounts on Sina Weibo, a major micro-blogging platform in China, on Thursday.
The 103 spokespeople represent government departments, legislature and political advisory bodies in Beijing's 16 counties and districts, said Wang Hui, a spokeswoman for the Beijing municipal government.
Beijing now has 110 spokespeople with micro blog accounts on Sina Weibo.
China has more than 240,000 government-run micro blogs on four large micro-blogging platforms, said Liang Lihua, an official from the State Internet Information Office.
The government-run micro blogs average 1.9 million posts each day, attracting more than 110 million followers, she said.
