The four major developers in Shanghai's Pudong district have stepped up the pace of planning and construction work in the city's Lingang district.
The four developers - Shanghai Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone Development Co Ltd, Zhangjiang (Group) Co Ltd, Shanghai Jinqiao Group Co Ltd, and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone Development Co Ltd - have all reported increases in activity, including nailing down new projects, increasing headcount and deepening the exploitation of Lingang.
Among the projects under way in the area is a new theme park. Shanghai Lujiazui will be in charge of the theme park, which is expected to cover 1 square kilometer with a total floorage of around 500,000 square meters.
The theme park will also incorporate a botanical garden, a hotel, a duty-free store and a retail outlet.
Meanwhile, Zhangjiang group has embarked on the planning of a 1.4 sq km area of Lingang. Science and technology research institutes and creativity-oriented companies will be clustered there to form a research and development incubator.
Shanghai Jinqiao has also had its plans approved by the local government. A main road running across Lingang from east to west is now under construction, and the project is expected to be half completed by the end of the year.
Shanghai Waigaoqiao FTZ will study the possibility of setting up an imported goods center, providing high-quality and low-price products in the Lingang area. It will also promote the brand of Lingang by carrying out art exhibitions, developing art derivatives and building up an art village.
