A man who achieved the highest scores in the national college entrance examination for students of science in a county in the Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture in Sichuan province has been a vagrant addicted to the Internet for most of the past four years, according to Chengdu Commercial Daily.

The man surnamed Liu, 25, entered the prestigious University of Science and Technology of China in Anhui province with an impressive high score of 650 in 2006.

After graduation from the university four years ago, he became addicted to computer games and would spend long hours in Internet cafes instead of looking for jobs.

When he had no money, he would ask his father, 55, to send some to him. He had been staying in an Internet cafe in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, for three days when his father found him on Tuesday.

Witnesses said Liu would sleep on a bench at the Southwest Jiaotong University in Chengdu despite the biting cold when he was not in an Internet cafe, Chengdu Commercial Daily reported.
