Shooting of a TV documentary series titled 100 Years of Chinese Oil Painting will begin in February, accompanied by a touring exhibition on the same theme.
The two major art projects are being organized by China Central Television, Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio, the China National Academy of Painting and the 163 Art Channel.
The chronological documentary will be divided into four historical sections from the beginning of the 20th century, depicting monumental events, policies and representative artists and artworks during those 100 years. Ten episodes are planned, each lasting 50 minutes.
The corresponding exhibition is an extension of the documentary and will feature oil paintings from several generations of Chinese artists. It will first be shown at Guangdong Art Museum from Jan 25, before touring other major art museums around China.
