Shanghai Disney Resort denied media reports on Monday that it is in talks with Fosun International Ltd to build a 4-star hotel in the resort that is slated to open in 2015.
In an e-mail statement to China Daily on Monday, Shanghai Disney Resort said it will stick to its plan to build two Disney-themed hotels in the resort with a total of 1,220 rooms and both will be owned and operated by the Shanghai Disney Resort joint venture companies.
"No other hotels are currently planned for Shanghai Disney Resort and there are no cooperation plans or discussions of any kind with Fosun," the statement said.
Oriental Morning Post quoted Fosun CEO Liang Xinjun as saying on Monday that Fosun is "deeply interested" in building an Atlantis-brand hotel near the resort.
The deal would be an addition to the company's latest project in Hainan, where Fosun has agreed to jointly develop an Atlantis-brand hotel.
