27kg of heroin confiscated in drug smuggling case

Police in Gansu province have raided a large drug smuggling operation, Lanzhou Evening News reported on Sunday.

Authorities confiscated more than 27 kg of heroin and two vehicles used to transport the drugs from Yunnan province to Lanzhou, capital of Gansu.

In October 2013, police observed a suspect surnamed Wang, who had a criminal record of drug smuggling, frequently drove from Yunnan to Gansu.

On Wednesday, police detained Wang and another suspect surnamed Ma during a drug transaction.

The case is still under investigation.
