Tetra Pak still under investigation, authority says

The anti-monopoly investigation into Swiss packaging maker Tetra Pak International by China's industry and commerce authority is still ongoing, a spokesman said on Jan 15, denying a media report claiming that the investigation has been terminated.

Speaking at a work conference in July, Zhang Mao, head of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, said Tetra Pak was being investigated by the authority and its provincial bureaus for anti-monopoly practices.

A report published by news portal ifeng.com on Wednesday claimed that the investigation had been terminated without yielding results.

However, a spokesman for the authority who asked to remain anonymous said in an e-mailed statement that the investigation is still ongoing and the news report is not true.

Tetra Pak, which makes packaging for beverage and dairy companies in China, is facing accusations of abusing its dominant market position.
