The Qing-Feng Steamed Dumpling Shop restaurant chain has reported a 40-percent rise in sales of filled steamed buns after President Xi Jinping dined at its branch in the Xicheng district of Beijing, on Dec 28, according to Beijing News.

"Many customers dubbed the food Xi ordered 'the president's set meal', but we have no plan to promote such a set meal," the head of the branch said.

Xu Lin, a senior manager at the company, told the newspaper that workers at the company's distribution center have been starting work earlier than before to satisfy the increased need for the particular buns Xi ordered, which are stuffed with pork and green onions.

Sales at the Xicheng branch reached a historic high on Monday, according to the Beijing News report. A waitress at the shop said that at one point almost 500 people were waiting for food they had ordered at lunchtime, and most of them had ordered the type of dumplings eaten by the president.
