China, Indonesia agree to lift ties to comprehensive strategic partnership

JAKARTA - Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Indonesian counterpart Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono agreed here Wednesday to lift bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
During their talks, Xi said the two countries will establish a comprehensive strategic partnership and raise bilateral relations to a new level.
Yudhoyono said both countries have the will to upgrade their relations from a strategic partnership to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
China and Indonesia forged strategic partnership in 2005.
The Chinese president, who is on a two-day state visit to the Southeast Asian country, will also attend the 21st informal economic leaders' meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation from October 7 to 8 in Indonesia's resort island of Bali.
