The basic funeral costs for all residents will be free this year in Nanjing, East China’s Jiangsu province, Modern Express reported Wednesday.
Ten kinds of poor families are used to be exempt from basic funeral costs, such as transportation of bodies to funeral homes, preserving bodies in the morgue, disinfecting and cremating bodies, and less than 200 yuan ($31.7) for cremation caskets.
As the price of cemetery plots keeps rising, eco-friendly burial options will be provided, such as burial in Yangtze River.
