BEIJING - The Chinese mainland's chief Taiwan affairs official met with the visiting delegation of the Taiwan Non-Partisan Solidarity Union headed by Lin Ping-kun on Friday in Beijing.

Wang Yi, director of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said that with concerted efforts made by people from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, the cross-Strait relationship has moved along in the right direction with sound momentum and embraced fresh opportunities.

Wang pledged that the mainland will work with Taiwan compatriots to further consolidate political common ground and deepen mutually-beneficial cooperations.

Wang said the mainland and Taiwan belong to one China, and compatriots from across the Taiwan Strait are a family. The mainland and Taiwan should uphold this fundamental understanding, which is the pre-condition for the steady and long-term growth of the cross-Strait relationship.

Wang also commended the Taiwan Non-Partisan Solidarity Union for promoting cross-Strait exchanges and cooperations and called for it to make greater contributions.
