BEIJING - A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official on Wednesday pledged to build a partnership of mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation with the United States.
Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a meeting with former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in Beijing.
"China and the US have had frequent exchanges at all levels since last year, and Sino-US relations maintain stable development," Wang said.
China attached great importance to Sino-U.S. relations, he added.
Wang said China and the United States have broad common interests, adding that to promote mutual trust and handle the differences between the two sides properly is conducive to the further development of bilateral ties.
Kissinger said US-China cooperation is an important factor for world peace, as well as in the process of constructing a better order worldwide.
"The two sides should coordinate the interests through dialogues and communication so as to promote stable bilateral ties," Kissinger said.
