More provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions have pledged to make residents' income growth fall into line with economic development as part of the 2011 draft plan for national economic and social development, China's top economic planner said Sunday.
"Only one province made a pledge to match residents' income growth with economic development during the 11th Five-Year Plan period (2006-2010), and only three provinces reached the goal," said Deuputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission Xu Xianping.
"According to their respective plans for the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015), five regions have set the goal for their residents' income growth to outpace economic development," Xu said.
Nineteen provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions have also said their residents' income growth would keep pace with economic development and five others said they would keep income growth and economic development at almost the same level, Xu said.
