BEIJING - Vice Premier Li Keqiang on Sunday called for joint efforts from the global mining industries to step up negotiation and cooperation to maintain a "fair, stable and orderly" mining market.
Li made the remarks in a congratulatory letter addressed to the 13th China Mining Congress & Expo, which is being held from November 6 to 8 in Tianjin.
Li said the mining industries should adopt an open and practical mentality to ensure adequate supply and steady prices in the sector to push forward the healthy recovery of world economy, as the mining sector provides important support for economic and social developments.
He said China's mining industry will rely on technological improvements and system innovation to enhance its capacity and efficiency, while it engages actively with international groups to play a constructive role in global mining development.
The annual China Mining Congress & Expo, co-hosted by the Ministry of Land and Resources and Tianjin municipality, has attracted about 4,800 participants from over 50 countries and regions.
