10 killed, 22 others missing in landslide
At least 10 people were killed and 22 others are missing after Saturday's rain-triggered landslide buried factories on a mountainside in Northwest China's Shaanxi province, local officials said on Sunday.
By 5:30 pm, rescuers had retrieved 10 bodies from beneath the rocks and mud that also injured five people, said Zhu Zhisheng, deputy mayor of the provincial capital of Xi'an, who was at the site.
Saturday's landslide occurred at around 2 pm and unleashed about 100,000 cubic meters of rock and mud from the mountain, engulfing a brick factory and destroying part of a nearby ceramics factory in a suburb of Xi'an.
