NANJING - Four people died after a theme park attraction broke down after being damaged by heavy rains in east China's Jiangsu Province on Saturday, local officials said Sunday.
Authorities raised the death toll to four after two of the people injured in the incident died from their injuries. Another 24 people remain injured, with one in critical condition, officials said.
The accident occurred around 3 pm Saturday when cars on a rollercoaster-style theme park ride crashed and fell off of their tracks at the park in the city of Yixing. Local officials initially blamed recent downpours for causing the accident, but said that a proper investigation has yet to be completed.
