A glittering array of speakers has been lined up for this year’s event. Over the three days of the 2010 Annual Conference participants will debate the opportunities presented to Asian economies as they move towards low-carbon energy, as well as broader issues such as the effect the financial crisis has had on the global business environment, the transformation of Asian economies, and the potential for intra-emerging market cooperation.

"I am delighted that we have such an outstanding line-up of speakers for this year’s conference," said Mr. Long. "With Asian economies recovering strongly from the global financial crisis, important decisions need to be made to ensure that this period of growth is sustainable. Transferring to low-carbon economy is one opportunity that could transform the region and drive future development. I am thrilled that so many illustrious names will be coming to Boao this year to offer their thought leadership on such important issues, and I hope that new alliances and bonds will be formed that can have a major impact on the region.”

Compared to previous years, the 2010 Annual Conference will experience a big increase in delegate numbers, as well as more diverse forms of interaction and dialogue. Building on the success of the Young Leaders Roundtable, BFA will launch a China CEO Roundtable for large multinational companies. So far, over 40 China and Asia/Pacific CEOs from multinational companies have confirmed their attendance at this highly interactive workshop. They will share their experiences and lessons learnt from doing business in China, and explore how to better engage in, and benefit from, the robust growth of this dynamic market. The impressive line-up for the roundtable has also drawn attention from local governments which see this as a unique opportunity to attract foreign investment.

The Boao Forum for Asia will continue to work together with the Asian Development Bank and publish the BFA Annual Report on Asian Economic Integration. The report will also come out in Chinese in addition to the previous English version so as to accommodate more Chinese readers. Meanwhile, the Forum will join hands with Chinese Academy of Science to launch a new bilingual report: the BFA Annual Report on Emerging Markets. The report will provide an overview and country-specific analysis on major emerging markets.

Also today, the BFA Secretariat signed agreements for the Conference with a number of major sponsors including Volvo, Sabic, FMG, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch, Evonik Industries AG, Tata Group, QQ.com, Shanghai GM, Mengniu Group, Moutai Group and Deloitte. The roll call of corporate powerhouses that are partnering this year’s event reflects the rising global influence of BFA.

Many sponsors reaffirmed their support to BFA. SABIC’s General Manager for Asia Pacific, Ahmed Al-Umar noted, "SABIC is proud to be a diamond sponsor of the respected BFA Annual Conference for the second consecutive year, which illustrates the value this top business conference in Asia can bring to its sponsors and delegates.  As one of the Top 5 petrochemical companies in the world, we believe that the Boao Forum for Asia is a suitable platform for SABIC to further demonstrate our long term commitment to doing business in China and participating actively in its economy. SABIC is confident that the 2010 Annual Conference will be a great success.”

This year, BFA has also signed strategic partnerships with CNBC, Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal, Reuters, CBN, Phoenix TV, China Daily and Caixin Media.
